Cannabidiol abbreviated to the more commonly known CBD as we know it is a naturally occurring non-psychoactive cannabinoid found within the hemp plant or as it is more commonly known cannabis sativa L. plants.
CBD is a phytocannabinoid that was first discovered back in the mid 1900’s. CBD is only 1 of at least 113 identified cannabinoids within a cannabis plant and it makes up a huge 40% of the plant's extract.
It all starts with the marvellous human body, the Endocannabinoid system or ECS for short is essentially a system within your body that assists the everyday function of the brain and body. The word endocannabinoid is created from the word “Endo” derived from the Greek language, meaning “within” or “inner” the second word is cannabinoids which are natural chemicals which are produced by the ECS. The ECS system works around the clock to help balance elements with the body and maintain homeostasis.
The human ECS system consists of receptors that these natural cannabinoids can cling on to in order to travel around the ECS system to the necessary areas of the brain and body to assist everyday functionality. These receptors are known as: CB1 (cannabinoid receptor 1) & CB2 (cannabinoid receptor 2)
For more information follow the link to see a diagram showing where the CB1 & CB2 Receptors are located. check it out here.

CBD oil is one of the most popular methods to ingest CBD, the oil comes in the form of tinctures which are taken by placing 2-3 drops under the tongue and holding it for 60 - 90 Seconds before swallowing. This can be repeated 2-3 times daily. The amount of CBD required for each individual will vary, please refer to the dosage guidance here.
CBD oils most commonly come in the form of Full-Spectrum CBD or CBD Isolate. At CBD uplift Ltd we focus on full spectrum oil as we believe it is the finest form of CBD available. CBD isolate contains CBD alone, whereas full spectrum CBD contains a small amount of other cannabinoids mainly CBDA but also has small traces such as CBN , CBG, CBGA & a very small amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) as well as containing beneficial compounds flavonoids and terpenes.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is 1 of at least 113 identified cannabinoids found within the cannabis sativa plant. THC is a psychoactive chemical compound within the cannabis plant that causes intoxication when consumed. CBD however lacks THC which in turn means all CBD provided from our store is completely non-psychoactive. Law within the UK stipulates that any CBD product sold that is using a hemp source must contain less than 0.2% THC
